interested in getting CLINICAL research experience???
4-5 volunteers are needed in the research laboratory of Dr. Jose Garcia, MD, PhD, at the Seattle VA hospital (located in the Beacon Hill area). Volunteer positions are available for clinical (human) research projects. A link to Dr. Garcia's UW page is here for your reference Garcia | Gerontology & Geriatric Medicine (uw.edu)<https://geriatrics.uw.edu/people/jose-garcia> We are seeking volunteers that are willing to commit at least 8 hrs/week for 1 year or more (we understand your schedule changes every quarter and you don't know your schedule for the next year).
Volunteer duties: patient chart review in the VA and UW medical record system to identify study candidates and/or perform study-related data extraction, data entry in Excel and/or REDCap (proficiency in Excel highly preferred), light clerical work, and some organizational/support tasks. If interested, please email your resume along with a brief description of why you are interested in this position to lucas.caeiro at va.gov<mailto:lucas.caeiro at va.gov>. NOTE: please include your name in the file name of all attachments, do NOT send links to Google docs or other fileshare sites.
There may be opportunity to shadow/assist with research study visits and/or obtain class credits via MED499. For those interested in more responsibility (contributing more than 8 hrs/wk) than described above, there are opportunities to contribute toward scientific manuscript publication (i.e., authorship) and to participate in the VA Summer Research Program with a full-time paid position during the summer. We will notify selected applicants for informal interviews to be scheduled late October and will provide final notification of acceptance for the available positions early/mid-November. The positions would likely not officially begin until January due to the time required for processing paperwork, obtaining a clearance badge at the VA, and accounting for the upcoming holidays. Please email lucas.caeiro at va.gov<mailto:lucas.caeiro at va.gov> if you have any questions prior to submitting your resume and interest statement.

Thank you so much for your help!!
