Hello Biology Students,
Washington iGEM (UW's undergrad synthetic biology team) is hosting two science/STEM education events over dawg daze! Come attend our events if you are interested in hearing about our student team and/or want to learn about the scientific research process/undergrad research.
9/20 from 3:30-4:30 in Savery Hall 260
Synbio Stories: Listen to professors and graduate students discuss their research experiences in the field of synthetic biology. This is a chance to learn about the various paths folks have taken in their careers and to hear how the research process really works from the people doing it!
9/23 from 3:00-4:00 in Savery Hall 264
iGEM Team Info Session: Our Washington iGEM team competes annually in the international synthetic biology competition called iGEM (yes- we know it's a goofy acronym). We are the only undergraduate led research group at the University of Washington. This session is a chance for undergraduates to learn about how the team works and what the application process looks like. Our information session will cover the fundamentals of synthetic biology and introduce folks to the types of problems our team works on. In addition we will share some general advice for STEM majors at UW and some resources for undergrads (we are also happy to answer questions at the end)!
Contact (uwigem at uw.edu) with any questions.
Best,
