[Biostudent] SPR/SUM 25 - Course Changes and Special Offerings

Here are some changes to current classes or special topics for this upcoming Spring/Summer.
BIOL 407 – Stem Cell Biology The class will count towards the development option in MCD and is now reflecting on DARS. Handouts will reflect this is the next couple of weeks. This will be generally offered only Winter.
The time schedules for Spring and Summer are both now available, so you can peruse and start building your schedules
Spring 2025 –
BIOL 413 – Survey of Human Anatomy- The number of the class has been updated to reflect its difficulty and time commitment. For those that have taken 310 in the past, it will now show as equivalent to 413 in your DARS The class will still count for all the same aspects as it did when listed as 310.
496 and 497 classes will be added to your DARS after the first week of the quarter by the advisers
BIOL 496L – Exercise Physiology - Human physiology with a focus on exercise physiology. You will have the opportunity for exercise related experimental design in the lab portion.
Fulfills: Adv Physio Course and lab in Physio, Elective and 2nd lab in MCD. Area 4 & lab for both Generals. Breadth for Plant
BIOL 497A – SPECIAL TOPICS: EXPLORING NATURE THROUGH CITIZEN SCIENCE : Citizen science is when everyday people join forces with scientists to help with real research projects. We'll explore various local projects such as BirdFriendlyUW and global citizen science projects using iNaturalist, read scientific papers that use citizen science data, collect and analyze our own data, and do group presentations."
Fulfills: Electives for both Generals, Plant, EEC, MCD and Physio.
BIOL 497B – DATA-DRIVEN METHODS IN COMPUTATIONAL NEUROSCIENCE
Fulfills: Electives for both Generals, Plant, EEC, MCD and Physio.
Summer 2025 -
BIOL 350 – Foundations in Physiology- will be offered
BIOL 413 – Survey of Human Anatomy- will be offered
BIOL 485 (2cr) - Senior Seminar in MCD DECODING IMMUNITY: THE LANGUAGE OF VACCINES AND ANTIBODIES
BIOL 497A (3 cr)– ENTOMOLOGY FOR NON-ENTOMOLOGISTS - Over the course of the summer, students will examine the anatomy, morphology, life histories, reproduction, habitats, range and diversity of insects, and later in the quarter will also begin to explore areas of insects in ecology, evolution and forensics.
Fulfills: Natural History for both Generals, EEC, MCD and Physio. Elective or Breadth in Plant
All 496 and 497 will be coded into your DARS during the second week of the quarter they are offered.
