Undergraduate Research Assistants Wanted – Neuroscience & VR Opportunities
About Us:
The Soetedjo/Kojima Lab at the University of Washington investigates the neuroscience of eye movements and their neural mechanisms. Our research uses non-human primates as a model system to study brain structures and behavior, alongside cutting-edge human virtual reality (VR) experiments.
Join us to bridge fundamental neuroscience with innovative technology!

Open Positions:

1. Animal Lab Assistants (2 positions)

* Work directly with non-human primate models—no prior experience required; full training provided!

* Responsibilities include animal handling, preparing for experiments, data collection, and lab maintenance.

* Ideal for students passionate about neuroscience, biology, animal psychology, or physics.

* Schedule note: Consistent weekend/holiday availability (including academic breaks) may be needed.

1. Human VR Lab Assistants (1–2 positions)

* Skills needed: Experience with SteamVR, Unity, and coding (e.g., MATLAB, and etc...).

* Design and run immersive VR experiments with human participants.

* Great for students in neuroscience, biology, computer science, engineering, or game design.
Your Role & Opportunities:

* Animal Lab: Gain hands-on experience with non-human primate research, including behavioral training, experimental protocols, and data analysis.

* VR Lab: Develop VR environments and analyze human eye movements data.

* Potential to contribute to independent projects.
What We Offer:

* Course credit (499) or volunteer experience.

* Mentorship in neuroscience techniques and lab operations.

* Skill-building in specialized methods (e.g., research on primate, VR programming).
Commitment:

* Minimum 12 hours/week for 1 year (flexibility for academic breaks can be discussed; Positions for animal lab may require consistent weekends and holidays (including quarter breaks) availability).
How to Apply:
· Email Lab Manager TL Wong (She/Her) at tw2407 at uw.edu<https://mailto:tw2407@uw.edu/> with:

* Resume/CV

* Unofficial transcript

* A brief statement (1–2 paragraphs) on your interest and goals
