*EU-IFAD funded EcoFoodSystems project recruiting two postdoctoral
researchers for research to enable transitions towards city-regional diets
that are more sustainable, affordable and healthy*
The interdisciplinary research group of Prof. Charles Spillane in the Ryan
Institute at the University of Galway (Ireland) is currently seeking to
recruit two dynamic Postdoctoral Researchers to conduct research on
Sustainable, Affordable and Healthy Diets for city regions, within the
European Union - International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD)
funded EcoFoodSystems project.
By 2050, more than two thirds of the world population will be living in
urban areas, the majority living in cities. The EcoFoodSystems project aims
to generate data and knowledge for more effective decision-making that
enables climate-resilient transitions of diets that are more sustainable,
affordable and healthy in three city regions globally (Addis Ababa, Cali
and Hanoi).
The successful candidate should possess excellent critical thinking skills
and have the capacity to conduct cutting-edge high-impact research which
provides an evidence base for informing dietary transitions for
nutritionally marginalised groups (e.g. undernutrition, overweight, obese)
in city regions.
*Postdoc 1 (Sustainable Diets) position (Reference : 010463)*
We are seeking a dynamic PostDoctoral Researcher 1 (Sustainable Diets) with
excellent skills in Data Analytics, life cycle assessment (attributional,
consequential), Big Data / AI, scenario planning, and measurement of
tradeoffs and co-benefits associated with different dietary trajectories or
food #baskets. The PostDoctoral Researcher will have proven capability in
research and survey design, data analysis and synthesis, drafting of
research papers and reports and development plus delivery of project
presentations
*Postdoc 2 (Affordable & Healthy Diets) position (Reference: 010456)*
We are seeking a PostDoctoral Researcher 2 (Affordable & Healthy Diets)
with excellent knowledge and skills in nutrition, diets, food science and
analysis of the health and nutrition co-benefits and trade-offs associated
with different foods, food baskets and diets produced based on
sustainability and/or affordability goals. The successful candidate will
have proven capability in nutritional research design, data analysis and
synthesis, drafting of research papers, reviews, and reports, plus delivery
of project presentations. Experience and knowledge of designing and running
nutritional trials with a diet focus in developing countries would be
desirable, including experience of case-control studies, cohort studies and
randomized trials.
Both PostDoctoral Researcher will work within the overall EcoFoodSystems
project team at the University of Galway, be team players and have a strong
focus on generating and enabling high-impact research outputs and immediate
outcomes from the EcoFoodSystems project. The successful candidates will
join the EcoFoodSystems project team led by Prof. Spillane and will be
expected to engage in all aspects of the overall project, design and
conduct research and to be available to travel to conduct research and
advance the project towards research outputs and outcomes.
Salary: Postdoctoral Researcher salary scale €44,346 - €56,764 per annum.
