[GEOG MAJORS] Welcoming our New Undergraduate Advisor, Emily!

Greetings all,

I am happy to announce that today Emily Uematsu starts her role as Geography Undergraduate Advisor! Emily joins us from the Department of Dance, where she will continue to serve as the Student Services Manager while sharing time in the Department of Geography. Emily will be in the Geography Advising Office for limited hours on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and remotely on Fridays. Emily graduated from the University of Washington with her M.Ed. through the Leadership in Higher Education program in June 2022.  She also completed her undergraduate education at UW, with a B.A. in Sociology and a minor in Education, Learning, & Society. During her undergraduate years, she worked as a peer adviser at the Undergraduate Academic Affairs Advising office and gained a strong interest in pursuing a career in education. Born and raised in Japan as a biracial/biethnic individual, Emily has been exposed to diverse cultures and languages from a young age and spends most of her free time dancing Kizomba (a partner dance from Angola) during her free time.
