[GEOG MAJORS] Geography Graduate Seminars Open to Undergraduates by

Greetings Geographers,
The Department of Geography is offering some fascinating graduate seminars that have space available in WIN 2025! The instructors of these classes have invited motivated undergraduate geography students to reach out to request registration if you like. The following classes have been approved to count for the geography major tracks<https://geography.washington.edu/courses-track> as indicated:
* GEOG 522 Space, Technology & Society<https://geography.washington.edu/courses/2025/winter/geog/522/a>: Examines social scientific and humanistic theorizations of space, technologies, and their interrelationships; uses theses theorizations to assess social/ cultural, political, and disciplinary implications of emergent online mapping technologies.
* Mondays, 2:30-5:20 PM, SMI 409
* Counts for Environment, Economics & Sustainability track of the geography major.

* GEOG 595 A Marxism: From Marx to Black Liberation<https://geography.washington.edu/courses/2025/winter/geog/595/a>: Students will be introduced to the historical progression of Marxist thought, uncovering the many strands that diverged in the 20th century as Marx and Engel's work was built upon in differing historical and geographical contexts. Students will read and discuss key texts, learning about the relationships between them, as they are explored through seminar discussion. These will include readings from across the globe with a special emphasis on postcolonialism and Black liberation.
