[GEOG MAJORS] Update about Geography Advising Office

Greetings Geographers,

I am happy to share that Department of Geography Undergraduate Advisor Emily Uematsu<https://geography.washington.edu/people/emily-uematsu> has recently accepted a new position as Program Operations Specialist for C21: The Center for 21st Century Liberal Learning<https://c21.washington.edu/> in the College of Arts & Sciences Dean's Office! We are so excited for Emily to move into this role supporting career development for students from all across the college, and we will also miss her very much! Emily has been a fantastic advisor in our office, hosting events, creating social and print media and organizing career support programming above and beyond regular advising appointment times. We are still planning for Emily to teach GEOG 491 Professional Development for Geographers in WIN 2025.

Emily wrote the following to all of you as she transitions out of the geography department through the end of autumn quarter:

As my time as an academic adviser comes to a close, I wanted to take a moment to thank you for allowing me to be a part of your academic journey. I've been continually inspired by the passion, dedication, and resilience of the geography students, and I am excited for what the future holds for each of you.
As we continue to live through these challenging times, collectively and individually, please do not hesitate to reach out for support when needed.
