[GEOG MAJORS] Paid Undergrad Research Position Open in Environmental Health, deadline 4/25

The Supporting Undergraduate Research Experiences in Environmental Health (SURE-EH) program provides program provides research opportunities to UW undergrads, including those from groups underrepresented in the biomedical and behavioral sciences, with a meaningful opportunity to work with experienced faculty on a research project addressing the relationship between environmental exposures and human health.
With funds provided by a NIEHS<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/www.niehs.nih.gov/__;!!K-Hz7m0Vt54!g2mWOjYF15n6ygxQpzgkFDR64e6jazwOwze3U6UVhhkzLmWyYkmQ2C5bMg0s2msreQx1nZBnhY9o-A$> grant, students accepted into the program will work alongside faculty and research staff in the School of Public Health's Department of Environmental and Occupational Health Science (DEOHS). Student researchers will be eligible for up to 2 years of funding: 20-30 hours per week during summer and up to 13 hours per week during the academic year.
We are currently looking for undergraduate students to work on the following research projects (full descriptions and desired qualifications are on our website):

  *   Project # 1: Heat prevention policy implementation evaluation & practical heat prevention solutions for agricultural workers

  *   Project # 2: Identifying household-level perceptions, behaviors, and adaptation interventions utilized to mitigate the effects of extreme heat and wildfire smoke exposures in the City of Spokane, WA.

  *   Project #3: Wastewater surveillance of emerging public health threats in rural Washington

  *   Project #4: Using high-throughput chemical screening to discover environmental risk factors for autism

  *   Project #5: Detecting enteric pathogens for understanding the effects on human health and gut microbiome
