Description: This interdisciplinary class investigates how brain activity relates to social interactions and behaviors. Weekly readings expose students to recent scholarship that engages with sociocultural and neurobiological knowledge, such as the neural basis of empathy, theory of mind (understanding others' mental states), and social decision-making.

Description: As AI and military technology rely increasingly on advanced semiconductors and their supply chains, the political and economic systems that drive technological change and production become crucial junctures.  This senior reading seminar explores new emerging scholarship on the modern capitalist economy in Taiwan and Asia.  We will critically approach capitalism, including understanding how states, politics, and money itself drive capitalist expansion, and how capitalism as a global system generates political, social, and economic ramifications for Asia and the rest of the world.  Topics explored will include theoretical readings on global capitalism, and readings specific to semiconductors, supply chains, finance, and global investment focusing on Taiwan and Asia.
