[UDSM Leadership] ROOTS is asking for donated dental supplies

I have a meeting with Sarah Lynch tomorrow and will ask for details. I also would like School of Dentistry to explore other options. I’m wondering if there  are organizations that exist that do this kind of work already.

Interesting question! I wonder what the original request was, specifically, or how it could be fulfilled.

How many tooth brushes, flosses, tooth pastes do we have on hand at this moment? When was the initial order placed, and how much of that inventory has been used?

My comfort level would depend on the answers to those questions.

I will be back in town Wednesday evening and could try taking a rough inventory of the supply closet on Thursday, if that would be helpful.

Hi all,



Sarah Lynch from School of Dentistry asked if we have dental supplies (toothbrushes, toothpaste, floss) that we can donate to ROOTS. I did order extra with the now expired HCA grant money so that we could have approximately a year’s supply to hand out. Are you all okay with donating some to ROOTS to have on hand for their guests? Asking you all because you’re the only group that I know of that hands out these items.

ROOTS reached out to students about getting donated supplies (toothbrushes, toothpaste, floss). Unfortunately, we do not have the funds, or supply to do this.

Is there a student group, maybe UDSM, that may have items that can be donated to ROOTS?
