Dear students,

We’re excited to invite you to an educational event on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, from 5:30 to 7:30 PM in Room 345 of the UW Health Sciences Education Building (HSEB). This session, organized by leaders of University District Street Medicine (UDSM) and Harborview Mobile Health Outreach (HMC-MHO), alongside several local organizations, will cover important topics related to opioid overdose and harm reduction. Participants will learn how to recognize and reverse the effects of an opioid overdose, understand best practices in opioid treatment and harm reduction, and explore community-based harm reduction strategies.
Event Highlights:

  *   Keynote Addresses from our panelists:

     *   Sean Hemmerle, Overdose Education and Naloxone Distribution Consultant with the WA State Department of Health
     *   Maureen Oscadal, Nurse Care Manager with Harborview's Office Based Opioid Treatment (OBOT) Program
     *   Laura Wirkman, Executive Director of People’s Harm Reduction Alliance (PHRA)

  *   Interactive Breakout Sessions for hands-on learning, including demonstrations of intranasal and intramuscular naloxone administration
  *   A Panel Discussion for audience questions and engagement
