Good Evening
You will be providing materials in grade 2 for most documents. There are situations, foreign language courses come to mind, when grade 1 is appropriate but you should allow your braille translator software to handle them in those cases.
https://www.brailleauthority.org/foreign-language/Provisional%20Guidance%20for%20Transcribing%20Foreign%20Language%20Material%20in%20UEB.pdf
I hope this helps.

Is there a reason why the student needs grade 1?

Good Morning All,
I am working with a blind student and had some questions about braille grades. When using a braille printer, do you print for students using Grade 1 or Grade 2? From the research I have done it seems that for textbooks and longer form documents Grade 2 is the standard since in truncates words and allows for fewer pages. Is Grade 1 viable for a college level textbook or would that be too cumbersome for the student? I can understand Grade 1 being used for in-class assignments but for a full textbook it seems like it would make the text challenging to navigate.
