Dear Friends and Colleagues,
Earlier this year, UW President Ana Mari Cauce announced the establishment of the University Task Force on Islamophobia<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/uw-s3-cdn.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/10/2024/03/08104403/Antisemitism-and-Islamophobia-Task-Forces-Charge-Letter.pdf__;!!K-Hz7m0Vt54!kMrhhGnHqAmGkqa9Uw2HRFHLzIe8HQ3098g_Le6qtolos8cnZkJkcawxA-uqcaEU_pPwUxFShcJ8Ng$>. As part of this effort, we are seeking participants for focus groups designed to assess the extent to which students, faculty, and staff are experiencing discrimination or harassment, with an emphasis on those who identify as Palestinian, Muslim, Arab, or of Middle Eastern/North African origin, and to what degree they feel the climate is supportive and welcoming to these affected communities.
These focus groups are open to all members of the UW Seattle community who share one or more of these identities. If you identify with one of the communities noted above and are interested in participating, please follow this link and complete the Focus Group Interest Form<https://survey.uaa.uw.edu/tf1>.
Please note that expressing interest does not guarantee being invited to participate as capacity is limited. We also kindly ask you to forward this email to other UW Seattle students, faculty, and staff who belong to or identify with any of the above-mentioned communities/identities.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
Sincerely,
--Karam Dana
(Co-Chair, University Task Force on Islamophobia)

I acknowledge that I live and work on the un-ceded ancestral lands of the Coast Salish people and pay my respects to elders past and present. I recognize that the UW Bothell campus specifically sits on the original territory belonging to the Willow (Sammamish) People. The campus also touches on the shared waters of tribes and bands within the Suquamish, Tulalip, and Muckleshoot nations. I am grateful to be a guest in these lands and commit to show solidarity for the continued fight for indigenous sovereignty.
